Student wins international robotics competition

With an ongoing love of art, technology and anything hands-on, Jasmine is perfectly suited to the skill of robotics.

Year 8 student Jasmine Liu has won the MakeX Robotics Competition in the 2018 World Robot Contest.

The contest, held in Wuhan this month, is regarded as the Olympics of the robotics world. More than 50,000 contestants from 20 countries participated.

Jasmine qualified for the international comp by entering and winning the Auckland MakeX Robotics competition.

Her mother, Lijuan Shan, said even as a child Jasmine was into 3D puzzles and drones and was introduced to robotics through watching her older sister Wendy, in Year 13.

With an ongoing love of art, technology and anything hands-on, she’s perfectly suited to the skill.

Congratulations, Jasmine!
