Physics teacher Tristan O’Hanlon is off on a year’s sabbatical to take up a Professional Teaching Fellow position within the University of Auckland’s stage one physics programme.
Mr O’Hanlon has worked closely alongside the university to develop a number of physics initiatives at ACG Parnell College – including the annual CERN Masterclass, mentoring for students and facilitation of the school’s physics trip to the USA.
With the university’s stage one physics programme trialling new pedagogical initiatives focused on small-group learning and problem solving, Mr O’Hanlon said it was a great opportunity to refresh his practice and be inspired by physics.
“We are delighted and proud that Tristan has been given this opportunity,” said ACG Parnell College Principal Russell Brooke. “He gives selflessly to his students and his passion for physics has no bounds. We look forward to what he brings back to us in 2019.”
We can’t wait to see Mr O’Hanlon back in a year’s time!
